This is my first post on this blog! I want to use this space to reflect on what I read, the music I listen to and the things I believe in. I have taken my cue from jazz writer Whitney Balliett’s definition of jazz- ‘the sound of surprise’ is a phrase eminently suited to jazz but I have come to see it as a way of describing life itself- something that is constantly surprising, enchanting and frustrating in equal measure. My photograph of spring blossom is an eloquent image of new beginnings and the trees around here have been incandescent with this short lived miracle. They say that the longest journey begins with a single step, so here goes….
